ARTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES
November 8, 2005
1. ROLL CALL
The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m.
Committee members present: Mr. Joel Gewirtz, Ms. Irene Horowitz, Ms. Coral Aiken-Miller, Ms. Carole Roberts, and Dr. William Tietze. Ms. Rose Ann Patterson and Ms. Bonnie Woodward were absent.
City staff present: Ms. Laura Litzan, Ms. Carol Glassman, Ms. Lois Gunter.
Also Present: Mr. Ed Bania, Marco Island Sun Times and Ms. Lindsey Kaiser, Eagle.
2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
MOTION by Ms. Irene Horowitz to approve the Agenda. Second by Dr. Tietze. Motion carried 5-0.

3. APPROVAL OF September 13, 2005 MINUTES
MOTION by Ms. Irene Horowitz to approve the September 13, 2005 Minutes with the change to 4 (C) to read: ‘Carole Roberts asked for a few minutes to discuss outreach to the public in the short term. Her concern was generated by an upcoming presentation at the Newcomers Club on “Arts in Public Places – Now and in the Future” by a representative of the Marco Island Foundation for the Arts. A brief discussion was held to ensure that any Committee members at the event be prepared to address potential questions about the work of the Committee’ - as noted by Carole Roberts. Second by Mr. Joel Gewirtz. Motion carried 5-0.
4. BUSINESS
A) Artwork Consideration.
Following discussion it was agreed that additional time and consideration would be given to the selection and placement of any purchase by the Committee.
B) Preparation for Presentation of Goals and Objectives to City Council.
The Committee agreed to individually study the Draft Policy and Guidelines for any suggested changes and to hold a workshop at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 in the lower level conference room at City Hall to refine the presentation.
C) Review Schedule for 2006 Meetings.
It was agreed to follow the 2005 schedule of meeting at 8:00 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month in 2006. The meetings will be held in the lower level conference room of City Hall.

6. ADJOURN
The meeting adjourned at 8:55 a.m. The next Arts Advisory Committee meeting is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 in the lower level conference room at City Hall.
