ARTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES
June 14, 2005
1. ROLL CALL
The meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm.
Committee members present: Mr. Joel Gewirtz, Ms. Irene Horowitz, Ms. Coral Aiken-Miller, Ms. Rose Ann Patterson, Ms. Carole Roberts, Dr. William Tietze, and Ms. Bonnie Woodward.
City staff present: Mr. Rony Joel, Director Public Works, Mr. Dana Souza, Park Director and secretary, Ms. Lois Gunter.
Also Present: Ms. Vickie Kelber, City Council Chairwoman, Ms. Patricia Castellano from Kimley Horn, and Ms. Carol Glassman, Marco Island Sun Times.
2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
MOTION by Ms. Rose Patterson to approve the Agenda. Second by Ms. Irene Horowitz. Motion carried 7-0.

3. APPROVAL OF May 10, 2005 MINUTES
MOTION by Ms. Rose Patterson to approve the May 10, 2005 Minutes. Second by Mr. Joel Gewirtz. Motion carried 7-0.
4. BUSINESS
a. Mr. Rony Joel addressed the Committee and shared his concept of the contribution the Arts Advisory Committee could make that would be most beneficial to Public Works. He discussed possibilities for art work on Collier Boulevard and other areas of the Island.
b. Mr. Dana Souza discussed the Roles and Responsibilities of the Beautification Committee in Relation to the Arts Advisory Committee and how both Committees are needed in the Community. He addressed questions and concerns of the Arts Advisory Committee members on selection of plantings on the Island.
c. Ms. Patricia Castellano of Kimley Horn discussed incorporation of ‘public art’ in current roadway designs. She answered questions regarding plans for street lamps, benches, etc., for Collier Boulevard.
d. Council Chairwoman, Ms. Vickie Kelber, explained procedure and process that the Art Advisory Committee will want to take into account as they bring requests to the City Council.
e. Policies and Procedures
Chairwoman, Ms. Coral Aiken-Miller, distributed Policy and Procedure material the Sub-Committee had formulated and asked Committee members to review and submit any suggestions prior to the Sub-Committee meeting the next day at 4:00 p.m.
5. PUBLIC COMMENT
There was no public comment.
6. ADJOURN
The meeting adjourned at 6:05 PM. The next regular meeting is scheduled for July 12, 2005, at 8:00 AM in the first floor conference room of City Hall.
