ARTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES
March 14, 2006


1.      ROLL CALL

The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m.

Committee members present:  Mr. Joel, Ms. Irene Horowitz, Ms. Coral Aiken-Miller, Dr. William Tietze, Ms. Rose Ann Patterson, and Ms. Carole Roberts.  

City staff present:  Ms. Laura Litzan until 8:15 a.m., Ms. Carol Glassman, Ms. Lois Gunter.


2.      APPROVAL OF AGENDA

MOTION by Mr. Gewirtz to Approve the Agenda.   Second by Ms. Patterson.  Motion carried 6-0.

3.      APPROVAL OF February 14, 2006 MINUTES
                        
MOTION by Ms. Patterson to Approve the February 14, 2006 Minutes.  Second by Dr. Tietze.  Motion carried 6-0.


4.      DISCUSSION OF PAGE ONE OF ARTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE POLICY – DRAFT #1.

Carol Glassman explained wording. Committee members debated some wording.

Following discussion it was agreed that the Committee is at a stalemate on recommendations for wording.  Continued discussion of Page One of the Draft Policy will be added to the April 11 Agenda for the Committee’s continued consideration.  Any recommendations should be e-mailed to the secretary to be distributed to all members for consideration and discussion at the April meeting.   Ms. Glassman will confer with Mr. Moss for his opinion.


5.      LIAISON INFORMATION – ROSE PATTERSON

Ms. Patterson provided an update on Parks and Recreation and Beautification Advisory Committee activities.  She expressed that it may beneficial for the Arts Advisory Committee members to be aware of the agendas and meeting minutes of those two committees and it was agreed that the most timely way to do that is to glean the material from the City Website.  

Ms. Patterson recommends that we stay tightly connected to both the Parks and Recreation and Beautification Advisory Committees and plan to work with them for the betterment of the Community.

She expressed the need for guidance and input from the City and the City Council and suggested a future discussion on the budget for the Arts Advisory Committee.


6.      SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS

Chairwoman Aiken-Miller reviewed the Sub-Committee assignments and Dr. Tietze stated that he has a meeting on the Performing Arts on Wednesday.

Chairwoman Aiken-Miller provided an update on grant research.

9.      ADJOURN

The meeting adjourned at 8:55 a.m.  The next Arts Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 in the lower level conference room at City Hall.
