ARTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES
April 11, 2006
1. ROLL CALL
The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m. Committee members introduced themselves and welcomed new member Susan Oldershaw.
Committee members present: Ms. Irene Horowitz, Ms. Coral Aiken-Miller, Ms. Susan Oldershaw, Dr. William Tietze and Ms. Carole Roberts. Mr. Joel Gewirtz and Ms. Rose Ann Patterson were absent,
City staff present: Ms. Laura Litzan until 9:00 a.m., Ms. Carol Glassman, Ms. Lois Gunter.
2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
MOTION by Dr. Tietze to Approve the Agenda. Second by Ms. Roberts. Motion carried 5-0.

3. APPROVAL OF March 14, 2006 MINUTES
MOTION by Ms. Roberts to Approve the March 14, 2006 Minutes after discussion of Item 4 regarding the Draft Policy . Second by Dr. Tietze. Motion carried 5-0.
Liaison Laura Litzan will pursue inviting Dana Souza, perhaps members of Naples Committees, or other groups, to a attend the May meeting and talk about their experiences with censorship and the role of Arts Advisory Committees.
4. LIAISON INFORMATION
1. Ms. Patterson was absent and will be placed on the May 9 agenda to report on activities of Parks and Recreation and Beautification Committees. Ms. Glassman commented that the Beautification Committee is carrying out interesting
projects such as hanging pots at the entrance of Mackle Park.
5. SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS
1. Dr. Tietze reported on contact he has had with Tallahassee and Naples regarding their Performing Arts programs. He hopes to schedule similar time with Bonita. His meeting with the Naples contact provided valuable
information and generated much discussion on possibilities for Marco Island.
2. Ms. Roberts reported on meetings held to discuss Jane Hittler Park in which excellent ideas were discussed contingent to Public Works’ determination of requirements at the Park. She expressed that there is great opportunity for the Arts Advisory Committee to select artwork and to assist in directing the theme
throughout the Park.
6. OTHER BUSINESS
Marco Cityscape e-News was briefly discussed with general consensus that it has much interesting information.
7. ADJOURN
The meeting adjourned at 9:10 a.m. The next Arts Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 in the lower level conference room at City Hall.
