ARTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES
March 13, 2007
ROLL CALL
The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m. by Chair Vickie Kelber.
Committee members present: Ms. Claudia Klug-Kowel, Ms. Rose Ann Patterson and Ms. Nora Joel. Ms. Susan Oldershaw was absent.
City staff present: City Clerk Laura Litzan, Community Development Director Steve Olmsted and Administrative Assistant Debbie McCabe.
Members of the public present: None.
APPROVE AGENDA
MOTION by Claudia Klug-Kowel to approve the agenda. Second by Nora Joel. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 4-0.
APPROVAL OF FEBRUARY 13, 2007 MINUTES
MOTION by Claudia Klug-Kowel to approve the February 13, 2007 Arts Advisory Committee minutes. Second by Rose Patterson. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 4-0.
PRESENTATION BY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
Community Development Director Steve Olmsted advised that he would take a closer look at incorporating art into the Comprehensive Plan and looks forward to working with the committee at the next meeting to implement some goals and objectives for the Art Master Plan.
REVIEW & FINALIZE SURVEY QUESTIONNAIRES
Master Plan Focus Group Questionnaire
The committee agreed to organize three different focus groups.
The following groups were selected:
Business Group
10 people from the Chamber of Commerce
Art Group
6 people from the Art League
4 people from MIFA
Advisory Group
Chairperson from each advisory committee.
Vickie Kelber advised that she and Laura Litzan would coordinate the focus groups and try to confirm a date between May 16th and May 22nd at 7:00 p.m. to hold the focus group meeting at Mackle Park.
Master Art Plan Questionnaire
The committee reviewed the Master Plan Survey Questionnaire and made the following suggestions:
· Include “Memory Art Donation” on questionnaire under #13
· Post on Arts Advisory Committee Website
· Print in Suntimes newspaper and return questionnaire to City Hall
· Distribute questionnaire to Kiwanis Club (Laura Litzan)
· Distribute questionnaire to Garden Club (Susan Oldershaw)
· Distribute questionnaire to Rotary Club (Lisa Douglass)
· Distribute questionnaire to Art League (Rose Patterson)
· Distribute questionnaire to MIFA (Claudia Klug-Kowel)
· Email final questionnaire to committee members
· Provide copies of questionnaire to MICA for distribution
· Provide copies of questionnaire to Marco Community Bank for distribution
APPROVE LEGAL CONTRACT FORMS
Vickie Kelber asked the committee to review the legal contract for discussion at the next meeting.
DISCUSS ARTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE WEB PAGE
The committee discussed the following items to include on the Arts Advisory Committee Web Page:
· Master Art Plan Questionnaires
· Mission Statement and Goals
· List of Committee Names, Liaison Contact
· Link to Send the Committee Suggestions
· Inventory of Art Collection with Pictures
· Information on Potential Locations for Art
OTHER BUSINESS
Laura Litzan suggested the dolphin statue be repaired and relocated to the water park.
Rose Patterson advised she would check with her contact and report back to committee if the dolphin statue can be repaired.
Vickie Kelber recommended that we invite Public Information Coordinator Lisa Douglass to the next meeting.
Vickie Kelber suggested we discuss the Summer Schedule at the May meeting.
Debbie McCabe will reformat Master Plan Questionnaire and send to committee members.

The next Arts Advisory Committee meeting is Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 8:00 a.m. in the lower level conference room at City Hall.
