(Editorial History: At the meeting on August 21, 2000, City Council agreed to meet in a workshop session to discuss the FY 2000-2001 operating budget.)
Following a discussion on items listed in the operating budget “over $10,000,” including the necessity of producing an annual report; purchasing video equipment to televise City Council meetings; the positions of Public Information Officer, Finance Accountant, and three additional Police Officers; funding the three additional police positions utilizing a COPS grant; repairing the roof of the Elkcam fire shop building; proposed contracts for professional services; proposed equipment purchases; and adding the contingency funds from each department together into a single line item, Council agreed to support the operating budget recommended by city staff, with the following changes:
· Delete the position of Public Information Officer;
· Delete the purchase of video equipment to tape City Council meetings;
· Combine all contingency funds into a single line item.
Recess: 7:50 p.m. to 8:05 p.m. It is noted for the record that the same council members were present when the meeting reconvened.
