MINUTES
City Council Workshop Meeting – June 8, 2004 – 8:00 a.m.
Chairwoman DiSciullo called the meeting to order and presided.
ROLL CALL
All Council members present as well as staff, members of the news media, and the public.
BUSINESS
(A) DISCUSSION – Goals and Objectives
City Council first discussed goals and objectives. Councilman Trotter provided proposed City Council goals and objectives as a working draft and Council agreed to modify the draft as deemed appropriate following conclusion of the two-day budget workshop meetings.
(B) DISCUSSION – Five-Year Capital Improvement Program (CIP)
The purpose of the budget workshop meeting was to review the Five-Year Capital Improvement Program and the FY05 Capital Improvement Budget. Staff presented an overview of the Five-year Plan and each of the 34 projects within the CIP.
City Council received a presentation regarding the police building and debated at length whether to construct the building on the current City Hall site or alternate sites. By majority consensus, Council agreed to proceed with the construction of the police building with a multi-purpose room rather than a Council chambers on the City Hall site.
Council provided input and feedback on all capital projects during the day-long budget workshop and agreed to discuss financial policies during the workshop meeting scheduled for June 10, 2004.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Mr. Bill McMullan, 1250 North Collier Boulevard, expressed support for better facilities for the Police Department.

There being no further public comment, the meeting adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
