Workshop Meeting
January 22, 2007 – 4:00 p.m.
Chairwoman DiSciullo called the meeting to order and presided.

BUSINESS
(A) Compensation and Expenditure Issues – Fire/Rescue and Police.
(Editorial History: Following FY07 budget discussions, City Council agreed to meet in a workshop session to discuss financial issues related to Fire/Rescue and Police services, including the affect of the spending cap on services; level of service requirements; alternative strategies to provide services; and compensation issues.)
Following a presentation by Fire Chief Mike Murphy, City Council directed the City Manager to:
· Continue discussions with Collier County regarding consolidation of Fire/Rescue/EMS services;
· Prepare and submit a report on the creation of a Municipal Special Taxing District (MSTU) for essential services;
· Analyze the effect of increasing Fire/Rescue personnel salaries and benefits upon the budget, and provide recommendations for internal and external equity.

There being no further business to come before City Council, the meeting adjourned at 5:35 p.m.
