MISSION STATEMENT
The City of Marco Island Boat Mooring Fields Subcommittee is formed to evaluate the feasibility of mooring fields; evaluate where, how large in size, management and funding for mooring fields; review regulations and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local agencies; solicit and evaluate community input; identify management options; and provide recommendations to the Waterways Advisory Committee on the above or other applicable Waterways Advisory Committee assigned duties.
GOALS & OBJECTIVES
GOAL: To evaluate the feasibility of mooring fields in the City of Marco Island including permitting by federal, state, and environmental agencies, input from the public, funding, as well as the creation and maintenance of such fields.
OBJECTIVE: To determine what must be done to create a mooring field in the City of Marco Island and make the recommendation to the Waterways Advisory Committee covering the construction and maintenance of one or more of such fields.
ACTION/STRATEGIES:
· Investigate the feasibility of setting up mooring fields.
· Research how and where a mooring field may be established.
· Determine what permitting is required and how to go about obtaining said permits.
· Determine what is required to govern the maintenance of mooring fields.
· Submit findings and recommendation to the Waterways Advisory Committee to review and comment.
