Re: Weekly Update
There are always a number of issues facing any energetic city, and the City staff works to avoid surprises and to ensure that the City Council is informed on issues and able to respond to citizens. We do so under a comprehensive communications strategy, using a variety of communication methods and tools, and one important tool is a weekly summary of issues projects and concerns, known as the “Weekly Update”.
Each week an Update is provided to the City Council to enhance the communication efforts and to ensure that there are no surprises. The Update is intended to provide timely and regular information for the City Council, and often includes substantive and critical information. Copies are also provided through the City’s website for the community. Items that are marked with an asterisk (*) are updates from a previous City Council Meeting.
City Manager
Joint Meeting with the Board of County Commissioners. The City Council has previously expressed an interest in meeting jointly with the Collier County Board of Commissioners. A meeting date has been set for Thursday, December 4, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Community Room, 51 Bald Eagle Drive, Marco Island.
City Council Meetings. The month of September has five Mondays so the next City Council meeting is October 6, 2008 at 5:30 p.m.
Fire - Rescue Department
Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council. Deputy Fire Chief Chris Byrne has been appointed to the Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council for Collier County by the Board of County Commissioners, with an appointment through August 31, 2011. I know that Chief Byrnes will appreciate it if you take time to extend your congratulations on this critical appointment and for his service.
