Mr. Olmsted is Director of the City’s Community Development Department. A native of Michigan, Steve graduated from the University of Michigan in 1980 and earned a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from the University of Michigan in 1983. Mr. Olmsted began his career in community planning with the City of Battle Creek, Michigan in 1981and has subsequently held planning positions in Ohio and Florida including Orange County and the City of Naples. With experience in both the public and private sectors, Mr. Olmsted worked as a consultant with Wade-Trim and Associates for six years where he served as client representative and project manager to several client municipalities. Over the course of his career, Mr. Olmsted has been instrumental in the completion of comprehensive plans, area plans, development and site plans, strategic plans, tax increment financing plans, and numerous zoning
and land development ordinances.
Mr. Olmsted’s hobbies include hiking, tennis, and kayaking. Steve and his wife, Diane, have four children, Lance, Ian, Erin, and Jason.
