Chief Murphy joined the Marco Island team in March of 2001 after retiring from the City of Miramar Florida. Chief Murphy has been involved with the fire service in Florida for 35 years. He also has served as the Governors' Florida Fire Chief's representative on the State's Emergency Response Commission for Hazardous Materials since 1993 and in 1999 was elected Vice Chair and subsequently Chair of the State of Florida Working Group on Domestic Preparedness for Governor Bush. He believes strongly in community service and sees that as a strong commitment by the personnel of City of Marco Island Fire-Rescue Department.
