The mission of the City of Marco Island Public Information Office (PIO) is to serve as the City´s liaison with the news media and to facilitate an accurate and consistent flow of public information to the City´s various constituencies.
Some of the functions include: Communications Strategies, Speechwriting , Content Management City Website/Intranet, City Manager's Office – Communications Plan, Executive Staff Speeches & Presentations, External & Internal Publications Editor, Spokesperson/Media Training, Strategic Customer Service, Public Relations, Email list-serve subscription service coordinator, City Hall Experts/Speakers Bureau, Citizen Surveys, Design brochures, inserts, fliers and other collateral materials.

It is essential for the City to ask how, when, where and why communication should be completed to achieve goals and objectives. To accomplish this, the City of Marco Island would like you to take a moment and complete a survey to help us prepare an effective communication plan of action. Your answers will help us effectively serve the citizens of Marco Island. The overall objective of this survey is to ascertain opinions and reactions from residents of Marco Island about how the City of Marco Island communicates with them. The questions are designed to establish what form citizens wish to receive information from the City, gather reactions and opinions about various means of communicating with the public, and to gauge in general terms reactions to City information and services. News Releases - News releases announcing City events and issues sent to local media help provide information to the public.
Partners in Education - Partnering with local schools, this program offers interaction between school children, teachers, and City officials, and helps teach young people about City government. By exposing children to local government at an early age they can grow up knowing about the services provided by the City and how each citizen can make a contribution to his or her community.
Publications - This is a current list of the publications, including flyers, postcards, fact sheets, etc, from the City of Marco Island.
Service Requests - One of the department's most visible services, this program helps provide service or address problems by working with citizens, other City departments, and City Council members to make citizens aware of action the City may be taking related to the request.
Tours - Schools, businesses, and other interested groups may schedule tours of City Hall, the Fire and Police Stations, and other City facilities by calling 389-5000.
Web site - The City's official Web site provides information, applications, forms, and interactive features such as maps.
