The City of Marco Island is pleased to announce the swearing in of the Interim Police Chief Joe Belardo, which will take place on Wednesday, May 27th at 2:00pm in the Community Room at 51 Bald Eagle Drive, Marco Island. Immediately following, the City will recognize current Police Chief Tracy Frazzano in a traditional “Walk Out” ceremony. The public and media are invited to attend.
Chief Tracy Frazzano announced her retirement on May 18th after nearly seven years of leading the Marco Island Police Department. She had previously served in several leadership roles in the Montclair Police Department in New Jersey. While Chief Frazzano has a long list of professional accomplishments including two Masters’ Degrees, FBI training, and Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation of the Department, she is most known for her community engagement. Chief Frazzano has volunteered with various non-profits on Marco Island, in Collier County, and in the State of Florida, notably the Shelter for Abused Women and Children and the Florida Police Chiefs Association. She has facilitated outstanding relationships between the Police Department and all three Marco Island schools, the Collier County Sheriff’s Department, and the State Attorney’s Office. Chief Frazzano has been a tremendous asset to the City and the community, and we thank her for her time in service as the Marco Island Police Chief.
We are also pleased to introduce Joe Belardo who will be sworn in as the Interim Police Chief on May 27th. Mr. Belardo began his career with the Schodack Police Department in New York, where he served in multiple roles and retired as Chief of Police in 2020. In April 2020, Belardo joined the Marco Island Police Department where he was promoted to Sergeant in 2023 and Lieutenant in 2025. Belardo holds two Masters’ Degrees including a Master of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science in the Administration of Justice and Security. He and his wife, Renee, also operated Blue Wave Swim School, a community‑focused program dedicated to youth water safety. Mr. Belardo comes from a multi-generational law enforcement family and is a proud husband, father of three, and grandfather of two.
Please join the City in celebrating two outstanding public servants.
