All services offered by our Division may be handled remotely. 

Citizen Self Service Portal should be used for all permit submittals.

Permitting office, open Monday through Friday 8am-3pm, by appointment, only one appointment at a time.

Registering a construction license to pull permits:

  • Contractor Registration forms, license copies, and insurance documents, should emailed to: contractorinfo@cityofmarcoisland.com  (.PDF format only)
  • Contractor Registration form must be signed by the license holder and notarized.
  • Note: Insurance Certificates need to list the City as the Certificate Holder

Citizen Self Service Portal:​

-Portal accounts are only activated for permit applicants or plan case applicants. Other users may use the Public Search (Instructions are at the link in my signature) or send an inquiry to permitdesk@cityofmarcoisland.com for permit inquiries.

-Portal account holders must be listed on the Citizen Self Service registration form, that has been completed by the responsible party.  Typically this would be the licensed contractor, licensed design professional, or owner builder.  You would also use this form to add new portal accounts to an existing license holder.  You can find the form at www.cityofmarcoisland.com, in the Our Government menu, open the Forms and Applications page.  Once there filter the list for Building Services to find all of our forms. You’ll be looking for: CSS Form - Registration form, to be used in conjunction with online registration.

-If you are looking to apply as an owner builder please reach out to us at permitdesk@cityofmarcoisland.com and let us know you want to talk about Owner/Builder. We have a process to go through before activating your account.

-If you are trying to apply for Planning & Zoning case type, including commercial land use, please reach out to Growth Management at: GMHELP@CityofMarcoIsland.com to get your account activated.

-New Contractors - Please visit www.cityofmarcoisland.com and in the Our Government menu click on the Forms and Applications link. Filter the forms for the Building Services Department. You’ll be looking for the Contractor - Registration form. Instructions for registering as a contractor are on the form. This form needs to be returned to contractorinfo@cityofmarcoisland.com accompanied by license, liability and workers compensation insurance. Please send the insurances with the registration form and license.

-Design Professionals – Please send the CSS Form and a copy of your license, and your contact information, to permitdesk@cityofmarcoisland.com.  Also check the Digital Signatures section of the Instructions page of the portal.

-Permit expediting services – Please send the CSS Form for your business and a copy of your business information to permitdesk@cityofmarcoisland.com.  Identify yourself as a permit expediter. To submit for permit you will need to either a) be listed on the CSS form of the contractor you are submitting on behalf of. Or b) request a power of attorney form from our permitting team, to be completed by the primary license holder, and submitted for each permit that you submit.

-If you are looking for information about a particular permit or permits, be sure to check out the Instructions page of the portal, and use the Search function of the portal.  You may also send an email to permitdesk@cityofmarcoisland.com and ask a permit technician for the information.  Use this same address for permit public records requests.

Permitting questions:

The permitting procedures have been called out on the inspections page of the portal. The permit type specific instructions can be found on each permit applications.  A complete permit application is required to be uploaded with each online permit submittal.
