City Council 2024 Meeting Schedule
Listed below are the regular scheduled meeting dates for the year. Special-called meetings and additional workshops are scheduled as needed. Regular scheduled meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Dr. Fay and Bedford Biles Community Room, 51 Bald Eagle Drive, Marco Island, Florida. Meeting notices will be posted on the City's website, www.cityofmarcoisland.com and at Marco Island City Hall, 50 Bald Eagle Drive, Marco Island. Council meetings will be live-streamed on the City's website, and broadcast live on the City's cable television channel, unless hindered by technical or weather-related issues.

Jared moved to Marco Island in 2007 and is a full-time resident and homeowner. He lives with his wife, Elsa, and their four children, Calvin, Tosca, Lorenzo, and Matteo. They love living in Marco Island and enjoy soccer, gardening, boating, going to the beach, attending art and music shows and other community events on the island.

A licensed Real Estate Broker Associate, certified Marco Island Specialist, certified Resort and Second Property Specialist, Master Naturalist, and Florida Stormwater Erosion and Sedimentation Control State Certified Inspector, Becky Irwin has been a year-round, full-time Florida resident since 1980.

Darrin is a 24-year resident of Marco Island. He has been married to his wife Suzanne for 24 years. Their two children, Jenna and Ryan were born and raised on Marco Island and have each grown up playing sports and attending local schools. Both have recently graduated from Marco Island Academy and are now attending college.

Greg is a full time resident of Marco Island and was appointed to the City Council on June 1, 2020 to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Councilor Sam Young. He was elected to fill the balance of Councilor Young's term in November of 2020. Greg is married to Margo, and is father to 9 children and two stepchildren, and is a grandfather of 11. He is a parishioner at San Marco Catholic Church. He is a veteran, an attorney and a retired Vice President of Caterpillar Inc., one of the largest and most iconic companies in the world.

Dr. Rich Blonna is a first-term City Councilor. A retired Professor Emeritus from the Department of Public Health, William Paterson University of NJ, he is a well-known author of college textbooks and self-help books. A major focal point of his research and writing over the past 30 years has been understanding how the mind and body work together to promote health and prevent disease. A prolific writer, he has authored several White Papers since becoming a City Councilor.

Erik Brechnitz has been a resident of Marco Island since 1995 and has considerable prior experience in municipal government, having served on the Decatur, Illinois city council for 10 years and as the city’s mayor for another four years. During his tenure as mayor, Erik hired two very successful city managers, in a system of government similar in many respects to Marco Island’s council-manager organization.
