City of Marco Island

Press Release

03-28-20 012

Given the new Executive Orders from Governor DeSantis issued on 3-27-20 (20-86 and 20-87) the Marco Island Police Department is collecting a list of all vacation rental properties on the island from Collier County governmental officials.  MIPD will distribute the Executive Orders with a cover letter reinforcing the order that visitors from an area with substantial community spread are directed to isolate or quarantine for 14 days. If an individual has arrived in the State of Florida on or after 3-24-20, they are required to isolate or quarantine for 14 days (20-82).  Further, all property owners with vacation rental properties must suspend operations for 14 days as of 3-28-20, unless guests are currently staying at the property or had previously booked with a check-in date of 3-28-20. Violations of either of these orders are punishable by imprisonment up to 60 days or a fine up to $500, or both. The Police Department will distribute the Orders and cover letter to local rental and real estate agents, condominium associations, property management companies and the Chamber of Commerce who will forward this important information. Additionally, the Marco Island Police Department will support the Department of Health or Department of Business and Professional Regulations with any requests, per the Governor’s Orders. We must all continue to work together and cooperate with Federal, State, and local directives to keep our community safe.
