On September 25, 2020, Governor DeSantis announced Phase 3 of the State’s Reopening Plan effective immediately. Executive Order 20-244 highlights the right to work and operate a business noting that no local emergency ordinance may prevent a business from operating. (The City of Marco Island has no order in place restricting businesses on the Island.)

The new Executive Order also suspends the collection of fines and penalties associated with COVID-19. As a result, the City has amended its Emergency Order that established $200.00 fines for violations of beach conduct, parking violations in “No Parking” zones around the beach, and for failure of groups to socially distance on the beach. The attached Emergency Order notes that the City of Marco Island will continue to enforce all city codes related to parking, beach conduct and vessel regulation with the regular penalties identified in the code. The City will continue to enforce social distancing on public beaches in accordance with CDC and Department of Health guidelines.
