The City of Marco Island has received a number of inquiries regarding possible restrictions on Halloween related activities. Halloween is not an event hosted by the City of Marco Island and therefore, the City will not be regulating Halloween activities. Each parent will make decisions regarding their children’s participation in trick-or-treating or other related celebrations. Similarly, homeowners will decide if they wish to participate by handing out candy. For those homeowners who do not want children approaching their homes on Halloween, please leave the porch light off to signal your preference not to participate.

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has published recommendations regarding Halloween activities and how to minimize risk. The CDC has identified low, moderate, and high-risk activities for Halloween. CDC recommendations are available at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/dailylife-coping/holidays.html#halloween.

As always the Marco Island Police Department will be on patrol helping to provide a safe environment for all Halloween related activities. Be safe and have a happy Halloween!
