The community is invited to attend a groundbreaking ceremony at the City’s Fire Rescue Station 50 located at 1280 San Marco Road on Marco Island on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 11:000am.

The City’s Fire Rescue Station 50 was built in 1992. The building also served as the City’s first City Hall after incorporation in 1997. The Fire Station has served as the City’s emergency operations center during several hurricanes and tropical storms. In 2017 during Hurricane Irma, rising storm surge nearly flooded the building and firefighters were evacuated. As a result, the City was able to secure a FEMA Hazard Mitigation grant to partially fund the construction of a new station.

The newly built Fire Station will house the City’s main IT data center, an emergency operations center, a fuel station for emergency vehicles, a training center for the public, and the headquarters for the City’s fire rescue department.

The project cost is approximately $12 million and will be partially funded by the voter approved Collier County one cent sales tax. BSSW Architects designed the new building and Manhattan Construction Company will serve as the Construction Manager. The project is expected to be completed in December 2022. The City’s fire services will continue to be fully operational during construction.
