The Marco Island City Council held a special meeting on May 5th to hear an unsolicited proposal from EarthWerks Land Improvement and Development Corporation to enter into a Public-Private Partnership (P3) to dredge Marco Island canals to improve water quality.  After hearing a presentation from EarthWerks representatives and a review from the City Attorney regarding the P3 requirements as outlined in Florida Statute, the City Council voted to authorize an independent review and technical study of the proposal by an external engineer.  The cost of the study will be borne by the proposers.

The proposed cost of the canal dredging is $60 million and the full proposal is on the City’s May 5, 2025 City Council agenda and posted on the City’s website.
