Memorial Day

In coordination with the American Legion Post 404, the City will host a Memorial Day ceremony on May 26th at 11:00am at Veteran’s Community Park. The public is invited to attend to honor the military personnel who have died while serving our country. City offices will be closed on May 26th in recognition of Memorial Day.

The City is also planning for increased visitors to the Island over the holiday weekend.  The Marco Island Police Department will monitor the streets surrounding the beach parking lots.  Vehicles must not block the road to wait for parking spaces.  Parking in the swales on posted residential streets is prohibited on weekends and holidays.  Vehicles that are parked illegally will be ticketed and are subject to being towed.

The City reminds beachgoers to adhere to our beach conduct ordinances including the prohibition of dogs, bikes, glass, and fires on the beach.  May 1st was the beginning of Sea Turtle nesting season, so please fill in holes in the sand to prevent turtle disorientation and traps.  The City picks up trash at the Maple Ave. and Winterberry beach access points.  The County collects trash at Tigertail and South Beach.  We ask all residents and visitors who go the beach to collect all garbage and personal belongings and take them with you.  Do not leave personal items or trash on the beach.  Please protect our beaches and wildlife.

Residents and visitors should expect heavy boating traffic, and all boaters must observe no-wake zones.  Violations of the speed limits for boats and jet skis or operating a motorized vessel in an unauthorized area may incur a fine.   Be kind to neighbors and be mindful of loud noise, especially in residential neighborhoods and across narrow canals.  The noise ordinance will be enforced and there are no warnings given after 11:00pm.  Any concerns related to noise, traffic, trash, or conduct on the beach or waterways should be directed to the Marco Island Police Department at 239-389-5050.  In case of an emergency call 9-1-1.
