Beginning November 6, 2025 and continuing through the end of the year traffic will be reduced to one lane on northbound North Collier Blvd at the intersection of Collier Blvd. and Barfield Drive. This will likely slow traffic in the afternoons for drivers leaving the Island. Please plan for delays.
Currently southbound traffic on Collier Blvd. is reduced to one lane for underground watermain installation and inspection. Once inspected, the southbound lanes will be filled and paved. The contractor is now beginning work to replace the underground reclaimed water lines under the northbound lanes.
This project is a major intersection improvement that will take one year to complete, and includes the replacement of underground water and reclaimed water mains with valves, tie-ins, service connections, deflections, and all associated restoration. Additionally, the intersection will receive new traffic signals, controllers, poles, roadways, medians, and sidewalks, and water and reclaimed water improvements. The cost of the project is $4.7 million and is being done by Coastal Concrete Products, LLC, DBA Coastal Site Development. The second phase of the project includes roadway work, medians, curbs, and paving and will be done at night to minimize traffic disruptions.
Questions about this project can be directed to Public Works at 239-389-3992 or by emailing publicworks@cityofmarcoisland.com. As the project progresses, the City will provide updates to the community on the timeline and next steps.
We recognize this is a difficult project as most residents and visitors traverse this main intersection, but once completed, it will improve traffic flow and safety significantly. We appreciate your patience and ask drivers to plan for delays and drive with caution in the work area.
