The City of Marco Island regretfully recognizes the passing of Joseph Rola on August 10, 2026. Mr. Rola served as a Council member on the Marco Island City Council from 2020-2024. Prior to his election to the City Council, Mr. Rola spent five years on the City’s Planning Board.  He and his wife, Barbara called Marco Island home for 26 years.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.  We will be forever grateful for his commitment to the City and his example of public service. 

The family of former Councilor Rola announced that a funeral service will take place on Friday, August 21, 2026.  A Visitation will be held at Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home from 12:00 – 1:00pm, followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm. The City Council will set aside time at 5:30pm at the August 17, 2026 City Council meeting to remember Councilor Rola and his contributions to the City. The meeting will be held in the Community Room located at 51 Bald Eagle Drive, Marco Island.
