At Marco Island City Government, we believe that transparency is vital to establishing and maintaining citizen trust and confidence in their government. We are committed to responding to public record requests appropriately, completely and in full compliance with Florida Statutes. In accordance with Florida Statutes, every person has the right to access public records unless a record is exempted by law from disclosure. We do not limit or refuse access to any public records unless a specific statutory exemption applies. Under Florida law, there are more than 1,000 statutory exemptions from disclosure.

We process requests in the order they are received and work diligently to fulfill requests as quickly as possible. Broad or laborious requests can take longer to fulfill and may be subject to service fees. Specific, narrow requests – especially those that identify search terms and date ranges – help us to provide requestors with responsive documents in the most timely and efficient manner.
