Information for Owners

On October 2, 2023 the City Council approved Resolution 23-54 nullifying Ordinance 22-08 which had required that owners of vacation rental properties register the property with the City, pay a fee, complete a fire inspection and follow other local requirements.  These requirements are no longer in effect.  The City currently has no registration process for vacation rentals.  If you already registered and paid the fee, the City Council will vote on November 6, 2023 to reimburse the fees that were paid.  For questions about fee reimbursement please call 239-389-3969.

While the City does not have any restrictions on duration or frequency of vacation rental stays in single family homes, some condo or home owners associations may have their own specific restrictions.  Vacation rental owners are still required to register with the State Department of Business and Professional Regulation (link is below), the State Department of Revenue (link below), and with the County Tax Collector (link below).
