A licensed Real Estate Broker Associate, certified Marco Island Specialist, certified Resort and Second Property Specialist, Master Naturalist, and Florida Stormwater Erosion and Sedimentation Control State Certified Inspector, Becky Irwin has been a year-round, full-time Florida resident since 1980. When her family moved to Marco Island in 1981, she attended East Naples and Golden Gate Middle Schools. Later, her family moved to Ft. Lauderdale and she graduated with honors from St. Thomas Aquinas High School and went on to graduate from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Classics, with minors in Archaeology and Art History.

Having worked professionally for more than 20 years in South Florida as Executive Director, Development Director and Volunteer Services Manager for organizations including the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Habitat for Humanity, Take Stock in Children and HANDY (Helping Abused, Neglected, Disadvantaged Youth). In addition to her full time work at these non-profits, she also served as a board member and volunteer for numerous others. Becky is passionate about helping people. She has received numerous awards including the President’s Council on Volunteer Service and Civic Participation “President’s Volunteer Service Award” (Gold Award 2007 (500+ hours), Silver Award (450 hours) 2006) by President George W. Bush. She was honored as Boys and Girls Club “Top 100 Women of Broward,” Leadership Broward Fun Lunch Honoree, and March of Dimes “Woman of Distinction.”

Becky moved back home to Marco Island full time in 2013 where she continues her long career of helping others, now as a real estate agent and passionate Marco Island advocate. She is a member of the Marco Island Area Association of Realtors®, The Naples Board of Realtors and the Realtor Association of Greater Fort Lauderdale. Consistently among the top 10% of realtors, she has been on the Board of Directors (ALC) of the Marco Island Keller Williams office, chairing the Finance Committee.

She supports local businesses, organizations and events both as a volunteer, patron and voice. When Hurricane Irma hit Marco Island in 2017, Becky walked and drove all around the island in the following days and weeks, filming live video that was viewed by hundreds of thousands to help them see how their properties were affected. Due to their popularity, her videos have continued over the years, showcasing local businesses, attractions, people, nature, events and island life on Marco Island.

She was appointed to serve on the Citizen Summit for the Strategic Plan in 2019 to provide input into Marco Island’s 20-year plan, as she intends to be here for 20 years and more to see it come to fruition!

In 2017, Becky was appointed to the City of Marco Island Beautification Committee where, as part of a talented team, she was able to bring two of her ideas to fruition: the artistic wraps on the utility boxes and the beginnings of a food forest in Winterberry Park with the help of the Parks and Rec committee. She chaired Arbor Day celebration in 2019 and 2020 and assisted with Marco Nature Night, as well as all the initiatives of the beautification committee.

When the City of Marco Island City Council election cycle began in 2020, Becky decided to offer her many years of board experience, her deep knowledge of the history and culture of greater South Florida, and her expertise of Marco Island’s history, culture, economy and ecology as a resource to the people of Marco Island. On November 3rd, the election showed that the people of Marco accepted her offer, voting her into office with the most votes ever received by any candidate in Marco City Council history.

Her son and daughter enjoyed playing on Marco Island beaches over the past 30 years as they grew up and now they are grown and starting families of their own. Her older grandson turns two in February and his baby brother arrived in December 2020!

Becky has always enjoyed the outdoors: air boating in the Everglades and on Lake Okeechobee, going to the beach, shelling, boating, snorkeling and exploring nature. Although she once did a triathlon, she now just enjoys leisurely swimming, walking, biking and yoga. She loves traveling with family and friends and makes time to visit interesting destinations like Egypt, Cuba, Paris, London and Prague. She has spent time all over the state of Florida and is happy to call Marco Island her home. But mostly she loves it when her grown children and her two grandsons come to visit her at “the beach house.”
