On Saturday, December 17, 2022, the Marco Island Police Department responded to a 911 call on Saturn Court, Marco Island. The caller reported that James Lang, a 47-year-old man, threatened to shoot household members. The dispute began when Lang asked his parents for money so he could buy cans of aerosol spray for his “huffing” habit.

As Marco Island Police arrived on the scene, officers observed Lang speeding away from the residence. A short vehicle pursuit ensued, and after Lang lost a tire on his vehicle, he returned to the residence. A felony traffic stop was conducted. In plain view inside the vehicle was a loaded 9mm handgun and approximately seven cans of Dust off aerosol spray.

Lang has an extensive criminal history in Collier County and is currently on state probation, he was taken into custody and transported to Naples Jail Center.

Charges include:
F.S.S. 316.1935 (2) – Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement Officer with emergency lights and
sirens activated.
F.S.S. 784.021 (1)(B) – Aggravated Assault with intent to commit a felony (domestic related)
F.S.S. 720.93 (1)(A) – Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
F.S.S. 948.06 – Violation of State Probation
