Apparatus & Equipment

The Marco Island Fire Rescue Department assesses the need for new equipment and apparatus on a continual basis to ensure that the life-safety needs of our community are being met and our personnel have the tools to do their job.

Boat

A new Fireboat is currently under construction. The vessel, a Metal Shark 38' NXT, will replace the current fireboat which has reached its end of service life. The fireboat will be powered by twin diesel jet drive engines with a fire pump capacity of 1500 gpm. The fireboat will include a patient care treatment area within the cabin. Delivery is anticipated in July 2024.

High Water

Upon learning of the efforts of Firefighters to rescue victims from storm surge flooding during Hurricane Ian, the Gary Sinise Foundation donated to the Department a 5-ton high water vehicle to be used to respond to emergencies during flooding events. With this donation, the Department now has two high water vehicles in the fleet.

HW Fire

The Fire Rescue Department has been awarded legislative appropriation funding for the acquisition of a fire engine capable of responding to fires during flooding events. During Hurricane Ian the Department responded to numerous fires in flood waters. This fire engine provides a higher clearance than a traditional fire engine and will have pump and roll capability. The Department is currently developing specifications.
