NGVD and NAVD Disclaimer

For Your Information:

There are two units of measurement that have been used on Elevation Certificates. 

  • Older Elevation Certificates show elevation measurements in NGVD.
  • New Elevation Certificates show elevations measurements in NAVD.

If your Lowest Finished floor is shown in NGVD you can subtract 1.3 to see what the measurement would be in NAVD.

Maps Change

When preparing for a renovation project a new Elevation Certificate should be obtained, from a surveyor, so that the Lowest Finished Floor is compared to the current map.
